You can go to Grindelwald by car or by train. A train runs from Interlaken to Grindelwald about 2 times an hour. From Grindelwald there is a rack railroad, the Wengernalpbahn, up to Kleine Scheidegg and on to Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. In Kleine Scheidegg you can change trains to the Top of Europe (Jungfraujoch). Grindelwald is a good starting point to the famous Top of Europe.

There are also several cable cars (gondola lifts) to higher mountains in the area. These are also much used by skiers in summer. In summer, they take excursionists and hikers high up into the mountains. There are mountain railroads from Grindelwald to the mountains Männlichen, First and Pfingstegg.

In Grindelwald you can find many hotels, restaurants and stores. It is a nice vacation resort. With almost 4,000 inhabitants, the village is much larger than other places in the Bernese Alps such as Lauterbrunnen. With over 170 km² a large community. Mountains such as the Mönch, which is over 4,000 meters high, are also part of Grindelwald’s municipal area.

However, a large number of tourists only change trains in Grindelwald. They arrive by trains and continue on the cogwheel railroad via Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch. Before Corona, this was done mainly by tourists from overseas, especially from Asia, but also from North America, Australia, etc.
